dwelling #5 twig treehouse
Inspired by Word Playhouse's fantabulous mini-treehouse, we decided to try our hand at our own version- the twig treehouse. After Max sought out the best possible twigs ("full of forks, Mom!"), we whipped out the drill and started what is turning out to be a day-long exploration of pulleys, bridges, wood, and design.
Pulleys are a must-have for acorn folks trying to climb up without the mouth of a squirrel to act as vehicle.
Max decided that the rope ladder should double as a "firm bridge" across the top of the main twig.
The girls, of course, had their own opinions. Micah worried that "people could fall off the dangly ladder".
Half the fun was in the talking, speculating, imagining, and dreaming about what we should build and why- who will use this twig house? Does it need a guardian gnome? How many pulleys should it have? What about emergency exits?
I doodled a little warning on the base of the house- littered beer cans are something like silver bullets for nature and for those unlucky munchkins who chance to step on them. I'm sure more will transpire with respect to the twig house this afternoon....
